The ending of IllumiNations is part of the overall changes coming to Epcot, which were previously announced at D23 Expo 2017. IllumiNations has delighted guests since its original debut in October 1999 as part of the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration. The yet-unnamed show will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the world. The official replacement for IllumiNations will debut in 2020, and will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed fountains, lights, pyrotechnics, and lasers. 1 debut of “ Epcot Forever,” the interim nighttime show that will feature classic Epcot songs, fireworks, lighting, lasers, and choreographed special effects kites. The Disney Parks Live Entertainment team will then prepare for the Oct. 30, the nearly 20-year run of IllumiNations will come to an end as the show takes its final bow.

This makes the best viewing spot to be World Showcase Plaza, this is where you will see everything that the Imagineers intended you to see. This is when the globe opens and a 40-foot torch rises out from the inside of what is now a lotus flower. The last act, “Meaning,” is my favorite part of the show. Take note of the globe during each phase as it depicts images of the acts. A single shooting star explodes and creates “Chaos.” “Order” is the part that brings everything under control. There are three acts to Illuminations “Chaos,” “Order” and “Celebration.” As you can imagine, “Chaos” begins with the Big Bang theory. While there is no narration, this story is beautifully told as a rotating Earth glides across the water as reflections of images are displayed on the continents around the globe. This show features fireworks, strobe lights, lasers beams that shoot out from various countries around the international pavilion. Utilizing the entire World Showcase as its stage, Illuminations is a nighttime spectacular that is beautifully synchronized to music.
